About the PTA
FAQ about Garrison School PTA
Why join? Members are the heart of our organization! Only members can vote on PTA business or hold office. Plus, only teachers who are members are eligible to apply for our mini-grants and expense reimbursement. We count on our members to lead the many programs we offer to students and staff all year long.
Why Pay Dues? We belong to the NHPTA and the National PTA. Our membership dues covers our dues to those organizations; which provides us support when needed, and our liability insurance for the events we hold at school.
When are Meetings?: We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from September to May at 6:00pm at Garrison School.
You don’t have to join to attend; just come see what’s happening!
Each meeting includes a Principal’s report and a report from our Teacher Liaisons, in addition to PTA news. Members will receive email reminders and the meeting agenda prior to each meeting. Childcare is available during the meetings thanks to Dover High School’s Interact Club.
Why does the PTA raise money? All the supplies, activities and programs that Garrison School PTA organizes are outside of the school district's budget, yet they are an important part of helping our students to be engaged and supported during the year.
Here are some of the many reasons we raise funds:
How does the PTA raise money? We have many fund drives throughout the school year. The majority of the funds we depend on are raised during the November Turkey Trot - the last race in the Dover Race Series. Keep an eye out during the year for ways to support PTA. You’ll receive information sent home from school and through the PTA Weekly Update.
